The Importance of ADAS Calibration After Glass Replacement

Modern cars are essentially high-performance computers on wheels. If your vehicle was manufactured after 2016, there's a high probability it features Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Braking, or Adaptive Cruise Control. These systems rely on precise windshield geometry and professional ADAS calibration.

What is ADAS?

ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) rely on precision cameras and sensors typically mounted behind the rearview mirror, looking through your windshield. These cameras act as the "eyes" of your car's safety brain, monitoring lane lines, pedestrians, and traffic signs.

Why Is Calibration Mandatory?

Think of it like glasses for your car. Even a displacement of 1 millimeter at the camera mount can result in a miscalculation of several feet at the road level when traveling at 65 MPH. After a windshield replacement, the physical angle of the camera has been disturbed. It must be digitally and physically re-sync'd to the vehicle's computer.

Static vs. Dynamic Calibration

There are two primary methods used by our elite partner:

  • Static Calibration: This is performed on-site by our mobile partner using advanced portable equipment. Specialists set up highly specialized laser-aligned targets placed at specific distances from the bumper right in your driveway or parking lot.
  • Dynamic Calibration: This involves a specialized technician driving the vehicle on the road under specific conditions so the system can "learn" its environment.

The Insurance and Liability Factor

Most Colorado insurance companies now mandate calibration post-replacement because an uncalibrated safety system is a major liability. Through our elite partner, we provide full certification that your ADAS systems have been restored to OEM manufacturer specifications.
